Kartik Upadhaya is a Research Fellow on the MANIPU project. His contribution investigates the moral problem of hypocrisy on social media platforms. Kartik works on moral and political philosophy. His broad topic is how we ought to communicate about normative issues with one another, for example through, advice, demands, praise, and blame. Kartik completed his PhD in Philosophy at the University of Warwick. The thesis offers an argument for the wrongness of hypocritical blaming, and explicates the common idea that hypocrites ‘lose standing’ to hold others accountable. Before undertaking doctoral research, Kartik read the MsC in Political Theory at the London School of Economics, and Philosophy, Politics & Economics at the University of Warwick.
