Dr Erik van de Sandt is Research Fellow in the Cyber Security Research Group of the University of Bristol, and Operational Specialist at the National High Tech Crime Unit (NHCTU) of the Dutch National Police. His research interests are in the security practices of organised (cyber) crime and data scientific investigations. His work as a police officer at the NHTCU focusses on organised cyber crime with an international impact, mostly investigations of cybercrime-as-a-service providers and financially-driven APTs. Erik holds a BSc/MSc in Criminology and LLB/LLM in Criminal Law from Leiden University, and a PhD in computer science from the University of Bristol.
