Mariya Prilutskaya, Ph.D. – Researcher – Mariya is a research assistant at Semey Medical University (Pavlodar, Kazakhstan), and graduated from Astana Medical University in 2008. She has worked as a psychiatrist for ten years. The sphere of her professional interests is drug addiction. Since 2012, she has focused on the problems of Novel Psychoactive Substances (NPS) in clinical practice. With the research team of the University of Hertfordshire, Mariya Prilutskaya studies the epidemiological and clinical aspects of drug addictions caused by synthetic cannabinoids and cathinones in Kazakhstan. Mariya was a speaker of IV, V and VI International Conferences on Novel Psychoactive Substances in Budapest, Vienna and Maastricht. She is a member of the International Society for the Study of Emergent Drugs and International Society of Substance Use Professionals. She participated in the development of national clinical standards for management of addictions caused by novel psychoactive substances. Her research activities have been supported by CADAP and UNODC.
