Janos Mark Szakolczai is a lecturer in criminology and digital media at the University of Glasgow. His research focuses on digital societies, surveillance, and the social harms of emerging technologies such as augmented reality (AR), virtual reality (VR), and artificial intelligence (AI). He’s currently a co-investigator on the DAARC project, which explores the risks of AR technology (2024–25). His first monograph, Onlife Criminology: Virtual Crimes and Real Harms, will be published by Bristol University Press in June 2025.
