Dr Kim Barker has over a decade of expertise researching issues related to the regulation of online interactive spaces, especially social media and online games. She is an expert on online violence against women, and is founding Director of Europe’s first Observatory on Online Violence Against Women, the first organisation that brings together a wealth of research under the ‘OVAW’ banner. Her research has been presented nationally and internationally, and has been cited around the world, including by governments and law commission reports. She has worked with NGOs, governments, and big tech companies on matters relating to law, and policy, and regulation, including online harms, OVAW, and online safety. She is an International Fellow at the ISLC Center, Milan, and a Visiting Professor at CTS-FGV in Rio De Janeiro, and sits on a number of national & international advisory boards.
